About this Canoe Route
Nemeiben Lake to Missinipe
This is a perfect canoe trip to get out and build up your canoe-tripping skills. Much of this trip goes through covered lakes and rivers, and there are a lot of islands to paddle around for protection from wind on the larger lakes.
Be in awe of the beautiful boreal forest as you paddle through fresh water rivers and make your way to the historically-significant Churchill River canoe route. Explore the many bays of Nemeiben Lake & find a great campsite as you head north to the six portages that give you access to the Churchill River's Trout Lake. Islands and campsites aplenty on Trout Lake. See several rapids as you wind your way from Stack to Mountney and Nipew Lakes. If it suits your fancy, venture north on Bellows Lake to experience Stands Under Falls. There are two options -both spectacular- to access Devil Lake, portages around Sluice Falls or Great & Little Devil Rapids.
The Nemeiben Lake to Missinipe canoe route starts at the Nemeiben Lake Provincial Campground. Canoeists can choose to park their vehicles at Montreal River Outpost’s fenced compound and be shuttled to and from their canoe trip. The canoe trip ends in the community of Missinipe, 80km north of La Ronge. Montreal River Outpost. Canoes can be rented from our store as well. Lakes, rivers, rapids, falls: what a great northern Saskatchewan adventure!
