Clearwater River Lloyd Lake to Warner Rapids

About this Canoe Route

Clearwater River Lloyd Lake to Warner Rapids

From your put-in at Lloyd Lake, you will enjoy a lake paddle, with several campsite options, before the Clearwater River begins. Lloyd Rapids has Class I, II, & III rapids, with a portage on River Left as an option. Directly after this set of rapids, look for rock paintings, as well as a spot further south after the river flattens out. Campsites abound as the river flow in a southeasterly direction. Keep an eye out for wildlife during this stretch also.

A series of rapids occurs before the confluence of the Virgin River and Clearwater River. A worthy side trip would be to paddle upstream on the Virgin River to explore the gorge that leads to Careen Lake. As the Clearwater River flows in a southwest direction, there are a series of rapids, some which must be paddled, hence the designation of this trip being for the advanced paddler. Enjoy the challenge of negotiating Class I, II, & III Rapids!

Takeout for this pristine northern Saskatchewan wilderness canoe trip is on Highway 955, the road to Cluff Lake Mine.
