Brabant Lake-Chartier River Loop
About this Canoe Route
Brabant Lake-Chartier River Loop
This loop is a great trip with several offshoots as options to increase the duration of your experience. There is the convenience of being able to access the put-in and take-out at Brabant Lake from Highway 102. Contact Montreal River Outpost for shuttle service and canoe rentals.
Brabant Lake is a great lake to explore with its many bays & channels. A combination of creek paddling and portages takes you past a couple of unnamed lakes before accessing long, narrow Kakabigish Lake.
Settee Lake has a number of options for short excursions and its large islands give you protection from the wind if you need it.
After a series of lakes, you will transport into the narrow Chartier River, with its rocky ledges, rapids, and a gorge, an excellent way to finish this great wilderness canoe trip, before returning where you came from on Brabant Lake. Explore both Brabant Lake Canoe Area and McLennan Lake Canoe Area in one beautiful trip!
