La Ronge to Nipekamew Bay

About this Canoe Route

La Ronge to Nipekamew Bay

Lac La Ronge's south shore yields spectacular scenery. On one side of you there’s a seemingly endless lake; on the other side of you is the beautiful boreal forest that’s mostly untouched territory. In between, there are long beaches of purple sand. No whitewater experience required for this canoe trip.

This 3-4 day canoe trip from Montreal River Outpost's dock in Air Ronge to Nipekamew Bay is a great trip for the intermediate paddler. Staying near the shore is paramount for safety on this large lake. Tacking back and forth takes energy and keen eyes. Camp on the beach to the sound of lapping waves.

Once you reach Nipekamew Bay, there is a small portage to get to the road where you can get picked up by Montreal River Outpost's canoe shuttle service to bring you back to the town of La Ronge. We also have canoes available for rent for this lovely Lac La Ronge trek!
